The old witches nose!

At the bottom of the fridge was an old wrinkled carrot. Abby found it yesterday and said "mom can I wear it?". What do you mean? I said, confused. "You know, on my face", I then was amused! "Its an old witches nose" she said with delight. I giggled inside but out loud shrieked with fright. She smiled and galloped away through the room, then up high she flew on her imaginary broom!

The unicorn and the punkin

Halloween wasn't super eventful at our house. Trick or Treating isn't my favorite thing so we went to our ward party, then to my parents ward trunk or treat, and then went out to my Grandma Johnson's house. After we got home we ate dinner, put the girls in the tub and went to bed! Oh, Levi and Stephanie brought me a pomegranate (how nice of them!) It wouldn't be Halloween with out one!

Down on the farm, recipes anyone?

This summer Paul and Joe decided they wanted to raise pigs. The plan was to eat them in the fall but Joe got attached and didn't want to eat his friends Winnie and Willis. Paul secretly named them Hampton and bacon and didn't get to know them as well as Joe did. Paul also "invested" in 2 turkeys who don't have names except for "thanksgiving dinner". He got them with the idea that he would learn how to slaughter them himself, part of becoming self sufficient. Anyway, back to the pigs. So Joe wanted to keep them as forever friends and Paul wanted bacon. We couldn't decide what to do so my dad stepped in and sent them to the butcher knowing they couldn't be around forever (they were really smelly) and now we each need some good recipes for pork! If you have any please let me know, Joe probably doesn't care. Sorry Joe!

Aspen

Aspen learned to sit up this week! She is starting to do things that remind me she wont be a baby forever so we need to charish the small and simple things!

Ice cream activity

A couple of weeks ago we had family night with all the Jensens at my parents house and we made home made ice cream in a baggie. It was really fun and its super easy. Its an easy, fun family night activity too. Anyway, Ive had a lot of people ask for the recipe so I decited to post it. Here it is hope you like it!:

In a small freezer zip top baggie: 1 cup of whole milk
2 Tbs. sugar
1/8 tsp. vanilla extract or 2 Tbs chocolate syrup
(You can do any flavor you want really)
In large freezer zip to baggie: fill half way with ice, add about 6 Tbs. of
ice cream salt. Put small bag inside large bag and shake until firm. enjoy!

This weekend we built our "pioneer purgela" in my parents back yard. Its more like a cedar wood pavillian. Abby had fun climbing in the post holes. Paul and my dad finished it in one day. It looks awesome!

Witchey-poo

we had a super fun weekend. My mom took us to Witch-a-palooza at Gardener Village on friday. I love gardener village anyway but this was extra fun because they were having their halloween celebration. There was a scavenger hunt to find these awesome witches (that was Abby's favorite part). There was dancing and little booths with activites for small children which was perfect for us, with face painting, Hair painting, Beaded pins, coloring pages, fingernail painting and each booth was only 1$. We had a blast. We also went on a hay ride up to an old witches house. It wasnt scary, this was for small children so the witches were silly and fun. Maybe its because I love Halloween but this was my favorite mini trip this year!

Its been a whole year??!!!

I cant believe it really has been a whole year since I bloged! Well a LOT has hapened in a year so I will just update you on the major points. We have been back in price for almost 2 years now. Paul is enjoying his job and staying extremely busy at Sorenson Communications (they translate phone calls for the deaf and hard of hearing.) He has recently been promoted from the head of operations to Manager of the center. He has a lot of responsibilities but has made some good friends and learned a lot.
Abby will turn 3 in january! She is the sweetest, prettiest little girl I have ever known! When she was born we thought she would be a quiet little personality- boy were we wrong. Man can she talk! She will talk to anyone or anything. She frequently has conversations with our feet, her dinner and of corse, grandma suzzy's dog pixy! She is also the very best sister there ever was which leads me to another major event!
We have had another baby girl named Aspen Penelope Brown! Oh she is so pretty! She was born March 15th 2009. Its amazing how different your kids can be from eachother. Unlike Abby, Aspen is very quiet. She hardly makes a peep except for when she is laughing at big sis.
I have been so busy with kids and 100 other projects. I am selling avon (I never knew women would spend so much money on makeup!) I am also a substitute at the castle valley center in the lunch room! I know you're wondering if Ive suddenly turned 80 years old and grown a mole on my chin (The tipical lunch lady sterio type) but it is actually really fun and the kids are so cute! One boy asks for "a crabby patty please" every day.
We have also been busy selling honey. If you read my last post (a year ago) you will know that Paul is a hoby bee keeper. We went from six hives last year to 16 this past summer. We got about 25 gallons of honey this year which isnt nearly enough to keep up with the demands of people wanting local honey but enough to keep us extracting honey every weekend for 3 weeks! If you are wanting local honey you will just have to wait until next year because we are all out!
Well that says it in a nut shell. I promise i will update at least once a week this time around. Here are some pictures to catch you up on the latest hapenins.
